Question 1

Do I need to build the website myself?

Accepted Answer

No. You answer a short set of questions about your services, prices and hours, and Bookwan assembles the site for you. You can then change the theme, colours, fonts and any section whenever you like.

Question 2

How do deposits work?

Accepted Answer

For each service you decide whether clients pay in full, a fixed deposit or a percentage upfront. The deposit is taken at checkout, and the remaining balance shows as outstanding until you collect it on the day or send a payment link.

Question 3

What does Bookwan cost?

Accepted Answer

You get 15 days free, then it's £10 per month with everything included - website, bookings, reminders, payments, clients and reports. Card payments carry one all-in fee of 1.7% + 30p on Pro (3% + 30p on the free Starter plan) and that already covers card processing, so nothing else is deducted later. You choose whether you or the client pays it.

Question 4

Can clients book more than one service or bring a friend?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Clients can order more than one unit of a service and add extras during booking, and availability is calculated from the full duration so your day never gets over-filled.

Question 5

Will it clash with my personal calendar?

Accepted Answer

Connect Google Calendar and it works both ways: new bookings appear in your calendar, and anything already marked busy there is blocked out in Bookwan.

Question 6

Do I need a laptop?

Accepted Answer

No. Bookwan is built mobile-first, so you can run everything from your phone between clients - and it works just as well on a computer.

Question 7

Do I have to pay to start?

Accepted Answer

No. Starter is free forever, no card needed - your booking site, your calendar and card payments at 3% + 30p. There is no trial to run out.

Question 8

What do I get on Bookwan Pro?

Accepted Answer

£10 a month unlocks the lower 1.7% + 30p card rate, team members, service variations and add-ons, custom booking questions and the premium website sections. You can start or cancel it any time from settings.

Question 9

What are the card fees?

Accepted Answer

Card payments run through your own Stripe account and carry one fee: 1.7% + 30p on Pro, or 3% + 30p on the free Starter plan. That single fee already includes card processing, so there is no separate Stripe charge on top. Cards from outside your country, and currency conversions, carry Stripe's extra cost. You decide in settings whether the fee is absorbed by you or added to the client's total.

Question 10

When do I get paid?

Accepted Answer

Payouts go from Stripe straight to your bank on Stripe's normal schedule - Bookwan never holds your money.

Question 11

Can I cancel any time?

Accepted Answer

Yes, cancel from the dashboard whenever you like. There is no contract and no cancellation fee.

Question 12

Do I pay more as I get busier?

Accepted Answer

No. The subscription is flat however many bookings, services or clients you have.
