Managing your calendar as a solo beauty professional

Your calendar is your business model. How you shape the week decides your income and whether you still like the job in two years.

Block your life first

Put your gym, school run, admin hour and one full day off into the calendar before you open a single slot. Whatever is left is what you sell. Doing it the other way round means personal time is always the thing that gets cancelled.

Use buffers, not optimism

  • Ten to fifteen minutes after short services for reset and payment.
  • Twenty to thirty minutes after long or messy services.
  • One deliberate gap mid-day so a single overrun does not wreck the afternoon.

Group similar services

Batch your long appointments on one or two days and your quick ones on another. Switching between a four hour install and three quick infills costs you setup time every time you change gear.

Keep one calendar, not three

If your personal calendar and your booking calendar do not talk to each other, you will double book eventually. Sync them so a personal event automatically blocks the slot, and so every new booking appears where you already look.

Review the week on Sunday

Ten minutes: confirm the week ahead, spot the gaps, post the gaps, and move anything that will clearly overrun. That habit is worth more than any scheduling trick.
